Boquete Trails
Boquete, in the province of Chiriqui, is a beautiful destination nestled between mountains, full of greenery, colorful flowers, and a delicious coffee smell. Among its low-rise houses and huge estates, you'll find trails of all levels to explore the Panamanian cloud forests. In addition, from Boquete you can visit two national parks La Amistad International Park (PILA) and Volcan Baru National Park, protected areas and nature reserves.
Climb to the highest point in Panamá: the Volcan Baru. From the top, on a clear day, you'll be able to see the two oceans. During the trip, take the opportunity to camp halfway and spend the day exploring the mountain. Don't miss out on watching the sunrise through the clouds.
If you want to get to know the cloud forest from slightly less demanding trails, follow the El Pianista or La Piedra de Lino trails. The first will take you on a slow climb from the bottom of the village to the clouds, while the second will challenge you with a much faster climb, a challenge for the more adventurous.
Visit the highest viewpoints, go bird watching, and take the best photos of Boquete with its beautiful coffee farms and surroundings. Try to see monkeys, squirrels, and the many orchids hidden in the forest. These landscapes are unique in the country.
Among its forests, walk cautiously in search of the mythical quetzal that flies among the trees.
On the Culebra Trail, discover plant diversity in the cloud forest and appreciate the large number of orchids that peek out from among the trees. On the Piedra de la India Vieja trail, hike to the stunning rock viewpoints, and on the Piedra del Musgo trail, watch the landscape slowly change from the cattle farms, through the valley to the forest.
On the Las Tres Cascadas trail, you'll have the option of walking or arriving by car to bathe in the middle of natural landscapes. Walk the entire trail to see them all. Each one has its own special beauty.
On the Pipeline trail you can walk in the middle of the jungle, next to the river, until you reach an impressive waterfall in the middle of a landscape that leaves you speechless. And if you want to see a really tall waterfall, be sure to walk the 45-minute trail that takes you to the Jä Gwätä ñöi Waterfall, a spectacular cascade with an 8-meter cliff jump and a beautiful lagoon at the bottom.
Undoubtedly, Boquete has plenty of hikes to suit all tastes: families, adventurers, and challenge seekers. Enjoy its refreshing 12ºC (53ºF), while touring landscapes full of life. Climb to the peaks and have an encounter with nature and the clouds.
