If you come between the months of March and April, you can participate in various festivals that are held in the town.

Drake Island is the most famous diving spot in Portobelo. It is named after the English corsair Sir. Francis Drake. Legend has it that the remains of his ship and treasures are found sunken around this island. For a second dive, go to Las 3 Hermanas. The deepest point in Portobelo National Park.In both places you will explore colorful reefs, a variety of sponges, fish and turtles in their natural habitat. During your dives in the park, you will be able to see the progress of the coral reforestation project where scientists and local volunteers are seeking to reduce the effects of global warming.

Leticia opens the doors of her house to share and prepare ancestral recipes full of tradition and exotic spices such as coconut, curry, and "ají chombo". Spend a day full of culinary traditions, Afro culture and above all, lots of food.
Sail to Isla Grande, the largest of the islands in the area. Its picturesque houses, white sand beaches, and the joy of its Afro-descendant people give it a special touch that you will love to visit. Venture into the trail to climb to the lighthouse and enjoy panoramic views of the Caribbean. At noon, enjoy a seafood lunch at one of its local restaurants.
Explore this small island inhabited only by tropical palm trees and crystal-clear waters. If you travel with your board, you will be happy to know that here, you can find excellent waves for surfing. If you are looking for more adventure, you have the option of camping on the island and connecting with nature. In front of the island, don't miss visiting the natural pools. Literally a transparent pool where you can stand in the middle of the sea. Take advantage of your visit to take a walk through the mangrove channel known among locals as the Tunnel of Love and appreciate the biodiversity of the area.
The most challenging adventure in Portobelo is reaching the Salto del Mono waterfall. With a 75-meter drop, it is one of the highest waterfalls in the country. To get there, book with a certified local guide who will take you through the 20 km of rainforest. The green of the jungle, the howling of monkeys, and a great variety of birds will accompany you all the way. This is an experience for advanced hikers, you must spend the night at the campsite, and descend the next day, after a refreshing swim in the Guanche River.
