Province of Panama Oeste

Located between Panama City and Cocle, the Province of Panama Oeste is the country's youngest province, officially established in 2014. Today, it serves as the gateway to the Pacific Riviera, a 40-kilometer stretch of coastline where beaches, forests, and outdoor adventures come together within easy reach of the capital.

Water Sports

With more than 15 beaches spread across its four districts, Panama Oeste is a playground for ocean lovers. Head to Punta Chame, a 10-kilometer stretch of sand known for excellent kitesurfing and windsurfing conditions, or learn to surf at Playa Teta, Malibu, or Rio Mar, where local schools and instructors welcome beginners year-round.

Fishing enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy along the coast. Venture offshore in search of pelagic species or try your luck with seasonal catches in one of Panamá’s most productive fishing regions.

Whale Watching

From July through September, humpback whales arrive in Panamá’s Pacific waters to care for their calves during their first months of life. The islands of Bona, Otoque, and Estiva are among the best places to watch these giants breach and witness their spectacular displays.

Always book your tour with certified operators who follow responsible wildlife-viewing practices and conservation guidelines.
