Rural and Agritourism in Boquete
Discover Boquete, a picturesque and rural district in the province of Chiriqui. Its cool climate, which goes down to 53 °F (12 °C), makes it one of the best places for agritourism in Panamá. In fact, many of Boquete's hotels and houses in the area take advantage of their land to create farms, orchards and trails. This destination is ideal for experiencing rural life and exploring its natural beauties.
Visit the Farms
Most of the farms are in the areas of Alto Boquete, Bajo Boquete, Jaramillo and Los Naranjos.
Although it's very easy to travel between these districts, we recommend renting a car or booking some transportation to move between tours and activities.
Go for a walk and get to know the day to day of a farm. Learn about ecological techniques to maintain a farm, walk through the crops and have direct contact with farm animals such as pigs, chickens and goats.
For the little ones in the family, in the area of Bajo Boquete, you find the perfect mix between adventure and field lessons. Here, in addition to feeding farm animals and horseback riding, children can hike and visit the playground with hanging bridges, zip-lines and climbing walls.
Don't miss the coffee farms. Many of them specialize in Geisha coffee, one of the most sought-after varieties in the world. Go through the coffee shops, learn about the whole process (season, harvest and roast), and enjoy a delicious tasting.
On the coffee tours offered at the farms, you can also go bird watching with expert guides. Remember that Boquete is constantly moving and every day more ranches and farms come together in an effort to give new and unique experiences to their visitors.
Boquete Flavors
In addition to walks and visits to butterfly gardens and other farms, you'll taste the sweetest flavors during your visit.
Boquete produces more than 40 types of natural honey that you can taste. You can also do a chocolate workshop with 100% organic Panamanian cacao and create your own truffles with the fillings you like best.
For adults, the rum tour is a must. Live a multisensory experience where you'll learn from distillation, alcoholic graduation, origin, color, presentation and aging of Panamanian rum. Of course, you can finish your visit with a delicious tasting of the different varieties.
To complete your experience, visit one of the “farm-to-table” restaurants. These places explore gastronomy from a sustainable and local perspective. Try delicious dishes with seasonal ingredients, planted 0 km from your table.
In Boquete, you'll experience the meaning of country life. You'll learn about the efforts of all the workers who make it possible for food to reach our homes and the dedication they have to care for the land so that it continues to produce for many more years.
Make the most of every second you have in this beautiful district and book as many tours as you can. Adventure awaits.
