To enjoy the islands and landscapes of the Bocas del Toro Archipelago, the main entry point is the Port of Almirante. From there, you’ll take a water taxi for an approximately 35‑minute ride to Isla Colón (Bocas Town).
By Car
If you’re traveling with a rental car, driving to Almirante takes just under 9 hours from Panama City. Take the Inter‑American Highway to the Gualaca turnoff, turn right, and follow the signs through the mountain range until you reach the port. There, you can leave your car in secure private parking and take a shared boat to Isla Colón, then continue on to the island where you’ll be staying.
By Bus
If you prefer public transportation, head to the Albrook Transportation Terminal and take a bus to Almirante. Buses depart several times a day. Once in Almirante, walk to the port and take a boat to Isla Colon (Bocas Town).
By Plane
The fastest and most convenient option is to take a flight from Panama City, departing from Marcos A. Gelabert Airport (Albrook) to Captain Jose Ezequiel Hall International Airport on Isla Colón. The flight takes approximately 45 minutes and is a favorite among travelers who want to jump straight into the adventure in Bocas Town.
