This benefit is activated automatically for every traveler who flies into Panamá through the authorized air terminals, and is under the age of 86, whether they are foreign travelers or Panamanians living abroad.

How Do I Use Tourist Insurance in Panamá?
Your Tourist Insurance is activated automatically when you get a passport stamp at an approved airport upon arrival (see included terminals). In case of an emergency or unforeseen circumstances, just follow these steps:

Contact the Assistance Center: The Assistance Center will be your first point of contact to guide you through the process that should be followed and to coordinate the corresponding assistance.

Your case is logged: A coordinator will gather the necessary information to log your case and manage the corresponding assistance.

The specialist team evaluates the situation: The specialist team will evaluate the information provided to determine the most suitable assistance, in accordance with the insurance coverage.

The necessary service is coordinated: Once your case has been evaluated, the corresponding services will be coordinated based on your situation and the applicable coverage.

Do I need to apply or register before I travel?
No. Coverage is activated automatically for all tourists who enter the country legally when their passport is stamped at international airports or corresponding air terminals
Is it really free?
Yes. It’s a benefit provided by the Government of Panamá to ensure your experience is truly unique and safe.
What happens if I have a pre-existing condition?
No. Tourist Insurance does not cover pre-existing congenital or chronic conditions. It only covers accidental medical emergencies or sudden illnesses that may occur during your stay.
Does it cover Panamanians who live abroad?
Yes, as long as they enter legally through the airports included in the program and have permanent residence abroad that they can prove with official documents (visa, passport, ID from the country of residence).
What is the age limit?
The benefit applies to travelers younger than 86 years old.
Does the insurance apply to tourists who arrive by sea or land?
No. Tourist Insurance only applies to tourists who arrive in Panamá by air through the airports specified in the program terms and conditions:
