As a result of ongoing large-scale demonstrations, many roadways, including the Pan-American highway, may be obstructed or closed at this time. Significant delays are expected for travelers throughout the country, and delays also extend to the distribution of products and services. In some cases, local public order forces have been deployed to ensure demonstrations remain as peaceful as possible. Travelers in affected areas are advised to avoid demonstrations; limit movements and stay indoors, as conditions warrant. If you have any immediate health or safety concerns, please contact local authorities (dial 911 or 411) and/or your local embassy or consulate. Travelers with immediate plans to visit Panamá should allow for extra time to travel to and from, and within the destination.
