The province of Panamá is situated east of the famous Panama Canal and is surrounded by the Comarca of Guna Yala (San Blas Islands), the provinces of Darien, Colon, Panama Oeste, as well as the Gulf of Panama.

No one should ever be bored in the province of Panamá, which is perpetually teeming with activity. In Panama City alone there are, to name a few, the restored district of Casco Antiguo, the Panama Canal Miraflores Visitor Center, where you can get a bird’s eye view of ships crossing through the Panama Canal locks, Ancon Hill for majestic views of the city from a Tropical Rainforest, visit the island of Taboga for a quick island getaway and much, much more.

Just steps from downtown Panama City sits the 573-acre Metropolitan Natural Park, the city’s only wildlife preserve. Overflowing with beauty, the park is home to 227 bird species, 45 mammals, 36 kinds of snakes, and 14 kinds of amphibians. And those looking to be awed, the park also offers trails for hiking with rewarding views of Panama City's skyline.

Only 20 minutes from Panama City, birding aficionados will not want to miss a stroll down Pipeline Road. The road treks through the heart of Soberania National Park and offers views of some of the diverse birdlife that abounds in the area. From the commonly-spotted Slaty-tailed Trogon to the Thick-billed Mot-Mot, Pipeline Road is home to over 500 bird species and it’s internationally renowned for its world-class bird watching.

For those who prefer to get away from the city, there are countless local tours available to showcase the wonders of this province.

By far the most popular place to visit is at least one of the outlying Pearl Islands. Once a popular tourist destination for the rich and famous, the islands are now accessible to everyone looking to take in the natural beauty of the area. Consisting of over 200 islands and islets off the Pacific coast in the Gulf of Panama, the Pearl Islands offer gorgeous beaches to soak in the sun and their flora and fauna are protected, presenting countless opportunities for scuba diving, snorkeling, and whale watching.

Home of the Tocumen International Airport, Panama City is the gateway to the country for international travelers. Once you’re here, Panamá's transportation system — which includes domestic flights, buses, boats, private transports, and taxis — makes it easy to get around the city, province, or the whole country.
